Brazil's beachies demand equipment that'll let you perform your best in everything from weak, onshore mediocrity up to powerful, wedging tubes. This is Joel's lineup for 2017!
The WSL's revamped Rio CT event starts in a red hot minute at Saquarema, and Parko's been doing the R&D at home to pick a few definite favourites for whatever's on offer over the next two weeks. Details, below (he's 6'0" / 81kg):
HYFI MONSTA 6 - 6'0" x 18 7/8" x 2 3/8" x 28.3L
MONSTA 6 - 6'0" x 18 7/8" x 2 3/8" x 28.3L
Autumn on the Gold Coast's seen a super rippable run of waves so far, with almost every day offering up little waist to head high beachies. This HYFI M6 has been Joel's go-to, geared with our FCS2 template in large.
Other than the flatter and more forgiving HYFI models in the X Series, most of the team have been using a bunch of boards in the new tech with their exact same shortboard dims, or just slightly stepped down. Here's Joel, with two of his go-to shortboards - same size, different construction.
Jason and Joel have just about the ideal scenario to test and perfect boards - they surf together all the time, live in the same neighbourhood along with the JS factory and a range of Australia's best and most consistent waves, and being almost exactly the same size, they often trade boards to dial in new refinements even quicker. Sessions like this are just about as good as it gets, no crowds and fresh sleds. What's not to love?
