Warming Up In Jbay

Thankfully Jbay is set to deliver a bit of everything, with the lead up to the contest pumping for days on end, and round one expected to kick off at dreamy, overhead Supertubes. As you'll see below, everyone's had a chance to sharpen their reflexes and test new boards in some incredibly rippable looking waves... Bring on opening day! Ryan, still repping his Fijian 'Taj cut', and licking his chops at the chance to put that ridiculous backhand to the test. At 6'0" / 80kg Ryan rides a 6'0" x 18 7/8" x 2 3/8" x 28.1L Monsta 6. Photo Trevor Moran Jeremy, taking a break from burying his rail to pull in at Supertubes. At 5'9" / 68kg Jezza rides a 5'8 1/2" x 18 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 24.4L Monsta 6. Photo Ryan Miller Ace looking super sharp, but still playing second fiddle to another ridiculous African sunset. At 5'9" / 76kg Ace rides a 5'11" x 18 3/4" x 2 5/16" x 26.7L Monsta 6. Photo Trevor Moran Parko, well and truly over his knee injury from Fiji. Still recovering from his mohawk though... At 6'0" / 83kg, Joel rides a 6'0" x 18 7/8" x 2 3/8" x 28.1L Monsta 6. Photo Trevor Moran Dusty, and the kind of finishing move that should keep his wildcard roll going well into the Jbay Open. At 5'11" / 80kg Dusty rides very similar boards to Parko and a few of the other team (so much so that they can share quivers, like in Fiji) - two of his go to sleds for both contests and free surfs all year round are 5'11 1/2" x 18 7/8" x 2 3/8" x 27.6L and 6'0" x 18 7/8" x 2 3/8" x 28.1L Monsta 6s. Photo Trevor Moran After surfing in the QS 10,000 at Ballito, 1000kms up the coast, Frederico Morais made the drive down to score Jbay before heading back to Portugal. After winning his firs QS event in the Caribbean earlier this year, the big fella's gone from strength to strength - reckon he looks right at home amongst the CT in Jbay? At 6'1" / 81kg, Fred rides a 6'0" x 18 7/8" x 2 3/8" x 28.1L Monsta 6. Photo Ryan Miller On a rail or in the air, Julian's one of the few surfers who could win Jbay no matter what the waves are doing. Right before flying out Jules grabbed a fresh batch of boards, with a combination of both his Air 17 and the Monsta 6. At 6'0" / 80kg, he rides both models at 6'0 1/2" x 18 3/4" x 2 3/8" x approx. 28L in the vast majority of waves he surfs around the world, from free surfs to the CT. Photo Trevor Moran
