BOARD OVERVIEW

THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, TWIN + STABILISER.

We loved the Black Baron so much it’s been ridden in every type of wave, so version 2.1 is all about taking the strengths of our first ever twin fin and giving it a wider range of conditions. Like a new fighter jet with a comfortable cruising speed you’re used to maxing out at, the Black Baron 2.1 brings the best parts of twin fin flow to even higher quality waves and faster surfing. Like the original it’s equal parts old school speed and new school flair - foam in all the right places to float over soft sections and fly down the line, yet still allow you to lay it on rail or bust the fins even when you’re going Mach 10.

Where the changes begin are in the outline – it’s a stretched out Black Baron, ridden 2 inches longer. We’ve also increased the rocker a touch, and added modern concaves to handle more speed and versatility. It’s a subtle single to double, featuring a “reverse concave” – one of Jason’s favourite designs.

This means it’s a deeper concave in the middle, with slightly shallower concave in the nose and tail to help with water flow for maximum drive. Black Baron 2.1 is the new all-rounder of twin fins. We’ve just added the rear stabiliser and to quote JS, this twin is an EasyRidin’, super gliding twin fin to use in everything from 2ft to 5ft. Featuring a Schooner type foil and rail, so ride it 1/8” thicker and remember approx. 2 inches longer than your Black Baron. Whatever way you go, it’s still all about maximum fun.

*Recommended fin choice – in FCS ride the JS Power Twin plus trailer, or MR 2+1. In Futures, T1.

BLACK BARON 2.1

WAVE TYPE

The Black Baron 2.1 has been created to handle when the waves are pushing up to 6ft. The stabiliser combined with a concave change and performance outline has geared the black baron towards more high performing waves. When surfing in smaller conditions it can be surfed as a twin only for a looser feel.

BLACK BARON 2.1

Features

Rocker

An overall low rocker is well suited to create speed and glide in small to average conditions that may also have a steeper face.

Fin setup

Black Baron comes stock as a 2+1.

Glassing specs

Boards are glassed standard with 4 oz. deck x 4 oz. bottom. (All sizes come standard with Hybrid Fibre tail strips).

Rail type

The Black Baron 2.1 is thick in the centre, foiling out to a low rail. This gives extra paddle power whilst managing turns and maneuverability.

BLACK BARON 2.1

CONCAVE

Black Baron 2.1 features a deep single concave into a double concave through the fins.

BLACK BARON 2.1

OUTLINE COMPARISON

As seen below, the Black Baron 2.1 has been elongated in comparison to the original black baron. A more pulled in tail with a more performance orientated nose outline

I’ve been riding my black Baron 2.1 for the past six months and it is by far the most fun, best board I’ve ever owned. The first day I rode it in knee-high, clean, hollow, but pretty weak waves, and it was so fast, loose and powerful. By contrast, just this past weekend, I rode it in 5 to 7 foot heavy, hollow beach break (and actually put in a slightly bigger trailer fin than the T1 Futures for a little more hold) and again it was just so fast and smooth, and turned so well tight in the pocket. There’s plenty of foam in the center of the board for paddling and catching waves, but the tail and rails are thin and knifey to really be able to push hard into your turns.
