BOARD OVERVIEW
OUR NEW GOLD STANDARD ALL-ROUNDER
We experiment with designs constantly, but JS only commits to a new board model when there’s an obvious quantum leap in performance. That’s the Xero.
Our new gold standard of all-rounders, the Xero came together by fusing elements of the most popular current models together, just like the Monsta Box. JS focussed on the strengths of our three clear global favourites over the past decade, and tested combinations along with fresh ideas endlessly alongside the Traktor Team to find the ultimate everyday shortboard. Built to blow minds in all conditions – especially weaker, flatter faced waves.
Where did we land? On the Blak Box rocker, Monsta Box rail & concaves, with a Monsta outline. Incredibly fast, this rocker fits into a huge range of waves, and provides even more drive than the Monsta Box. It’s flat enough to fly in anything but has just enough curve to be pushed hard when combined with the Monsta’s clean, performance outline, which flows into a slight hip that provides intuitive, instant direction changes. And similar to the Monsta Box, single concave under front foot runs into a double through the fins to give you extra lift yet maintain control in more critical sections.
We recommend riding the same dimensions as your Monsta Box 2020, or in EasyRider dims, closer to your Blak Box 3.

XERO
WAVE TYPE
0-4ft. Great in many conditions from crumbly, flatter wave faces to good quality surf. The rocker has been proven over time to be the most versatile in the x-series.
XERO
Features
Rocker |
The same rocker as the superseded Blak Box 3. An overall low to flat rocker is the perfect all-round rocker creating speed and glide in small to average conditions. |
Fin setup |
The Xero comes stock as a thruster. Alternative setups are available with custom orders. |
Glassing specs |
Boards 5'6" - 5'11" glassed standard with 4 oz. deck x 4 oz. bottom. Boards 5'11" - 6'4" glassed 4 x 3 oz. deck and 4 oz. bottom. 6'6 and up glassed standard with 4 x 4 oz deck x 4 oz. bottom (All sizes come standard with Hybrid Fibre tail strips) |
Rail type |
The Xero has medium full rails, the same as the Monsta Box 2020. This performance based rail shape allows for precision when the right section stands up, yet has enough volume to get you through fat sections or avoid catch in chop. |
XERO
CONCAVEThe same concave as the Monsta Box 2020, deep throughout for greater lift, suiting smaller / less powerful conditions. Single concave under front foot moves to double concave between the fins. Based on team favourites, JS chose to go back to his “reverse concave” which is deeper under front foot and shallower at each end of the board. We found this to be the fastest of them all, as it creates maximum water flow.

I purchased the Xero in November of 22, I'm so stoked on this board. This board is also my first epoxy. I, have put this board to the test, and it performs better than any board in my quiver. I surfed at all the piers in San Diego, Blacks, 15th, D Street, Trestles and many other reef/beach breaks. I have to have a board to compete against longboarders, who have a clear advantage at catching waves. This board has no problem paddling for outside sets, making steep drops, or flat sections. Its super responsive rail to rail and has a spring to it unlike any of my PU boards. This is truly a all-around board. Thank you so much JS Industries for producing such rad boards.

This board is my current go-to for 80-90% of my sessions. So much so that I bought it in PU and Epoxy. I have the Black Box, Black Box II, Monsta, and the Air 10 but I love my Xero’s. Being here in Oceanside, we stay in the 3-4’ range for most of the year with some bigger swells mixed in there but we also get our fair share of smaller days. This board is just as fun on a smaller gutless day as it is on an overhead day with plenty of push. Super responsive and lively at the top of the wave and plenty of drive and stability at the bottom. I’m 5’8” 165lbs and I have my EPS in 5’7” x 19 1/4” x 2 5/16” and my PU is 5’9” x 19” x 2 3/8”. Super fun board 10/10 would recommend for a buddy.

My 6'5 PU Xero in easy rider dims has performed amazing in cold water Points and Beach Breaks. The rocker allows the board to paddle amazing and the tail shape features a slight hip which enables tighter turning than its predecessor. I strongly recommend this board since I it has not let me down in 2' to 6' surf.

The xero is insane in good way, not like my ex. It’s extremely responsive and fast. One of those boards that gives you a boost of confidence in your surfing because it just goes where you want when you need it to and you can count on it. I got it to replace my black box 3 and was just hoping it would be close to as good as that board was (it was magic) and I’m super stoked to say it picked up right where that one left off . This board is insane and I’ll be getting another one soon before I surf this one into the dirt.

Living in South Florida, surfing choppy wind swell the xero has gone insane. It's flat enough to keep speed but the high performance aspects of really make it come to life in less that desirable conditions. Stoked on this model.
